On a bright and warm Easter Sunday morning we headed off for a lovely day in the wood, it was nice to escape the smog for some fresh air. It was a beautiful day for the Friends of Sharphill wood work party. Stuart went up to the wood early and cleared a lot of rubbish from the field near the Peveril entrance and more rubbish from the western side of the wood near the steps.
Rod and Rich also cleared a further two sites in the middle of the wood just off the main central path.
Volunteer wise, we had a good turnout for a bank holiday weekend, seven people in all, including Stuart who did the early rubbish run, which wasn't bad considering it was Easter and quite a lot of people were away.
We concentrated on the path edging today to try and link all of the sections up that we have already completed, but we didn't quite make it as we are running out of edging wood and the litter pick took some time.
The birds were very vocal today especially the green woodpecker who seemed to be keeping an eye on us, it might have been Jeremy spying on us to report back to Chrissie.
Also it was nice to see a lot of people walking and enjoying the wood for the right reason.
Happy Easter to all
