Today four of us held just a short work party during the afternoon. We focused on maintaining the main path, and decided on the day that spreading more wood chip was more important than dealing with encroaching nettles. We had dealt with the worst of the nettles during the previous work party, and the remainder had not worsened significantly. Despite dry weather for the last week, there were a few extremely muddy sections on the main path, and we were able to apply wood chip to most of these. Some of the sections were about half way along the main path, and this meant a long and up hill push for the wheelbarrows. The warm weather meant that we were glad to finish at the allotted time, even though a few more barrow loads would have been beneficial. In addition, we moved some soil on to some of the lower steps outside the southern entrance and tamped it down, to bring the steps up to the height of the timber and help mitigate any trip hazard
